A solitary stone at King's Mountain, just east of Loughcrew, marks the place of a long destroyed passage tomb. The remaining upright is 2.5 metres tall and from the angle seen on first approach is pretty unremarkable, an ordinary standing stone. On the opposite face however, some of the finest carving work in the whole Loughcrew comlpex is to be seen, spirals and concentric circles expertly executed and perhaps an energetic taster of the fine artistry that was to develop in the great passage tombs of the Boyne Valley.
